Of the 137,939 herd numbers held in Ireland, just over 24,000 are registered to women, figures from the Department of Agriculture show.
The number of women holding herd numbers is highest in Cork with 2,531.
This is followed by Mayo with 2,445, Galway with 2,258 and Donegal with 1,501.
The counties with the lowest number of women with herd numbers are Dublin with 279, Carlow with 321 and Louth with 324.
The counties with the highest number of herds will come as no surprise, with Cork (13,598), Galway (12,818) and Mayo (12,087) leading the way.
