Galway County Show was the setting for this year’s Vendeén national championships. Securing the outright Vendeén championship, along with a number of other top spots, was John and Stephen Lynch, Ballinalee, Co Longford.

It was their male champion aged ram Ballinascraw Northern Dancer which went on to claim overall championship, sired by French AI.

Not stopping there, the duo collected reserve female champion, as well as four of the six first prizes up for grabs.

Reserve honours in the championship line-up went to Quitrent Liana from Conor and Cheryl O’Brien, Kildorrery, Co Cork.

Bred and owned by the team, Liana had secured the female championship earlier in the day having won the aged ewe class.
