The supreme inter-breed beef champion went to Garret Behan, Cloneygowan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise, Co Laois, with his senior cow Clonagh Absolutely Fabulous. This 2009-born cow certainly lived up to her name as she won the Simmental championship before emerging as the overall beef champion of the show in a hotly contested inter-breed championship later in the day, which featured all of the major beef breeds. Standing in reserve in the Simmental section was the senior heifer Fearna Faith, exhibited by Martin Mooney, Birr, Co Offaly.

In the Charolaois section, it was yearling heifer calf Sheehills Jackpot which took the championship title for Megan Searson, Sheehills, Roscrea, Co Tipperary. This autumn 2014-born heifer calf is sired by Ferdie and is out of a homebred dam. Megan also took the reserve championship with Sheehills Jacqui – a full ET sister to the champion. The Searson family then went on to cap off a terrific day by taking the reserve inter-breed title with Sheehills Jackpot at the end of the show.

The Belgian Blue championship went to Billy Dunne, Erill, Co Laois, with Errill Incredible. This young heifer calf is sired by Empire and overcame a very strong entry of almost 20 exhibits to take the overall breed championship. Taking the reserve champion rosette was David Pearson, Ballacolla, Co Laois, with the senior bull Boherard Hannibal.

The Dudley brothers dominated the traditional breeds, claiming both the Hereford and Aberdeen Angus championships. Glenn Dudley, Kilsunny Hse, Dovea, Thurles, Co Tipperary, won the Hereford championship with his junior cow Lakelodge Kathy 5. This 2012-born cow has won a multitude of championships in recent weeks and was shown with a young bull calf at foot. The reserve Hereford championship went to Mervyn Parr, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, with Tourtanepoll 1 Sara 869. This maiden heifer was born in November 2013 and is sired by the successful AI bull Kilsunny Goliath.

In the Aberdeen Angus section, Edward Dudley, Dovea, Thurles, Co Tipperary, took the supreme Angus championship with the homebred senior cow Castlelough Midnight Bonika H057. This seven-year-old mature cow was shown with a December 2014-born bull calf at foot and is sired by Liss Mirt C476. Taking the reserve spot was Michael and Oliver Flanagan, Moydrum, Athlone, Co Westmeath, with Moydrum Frauline Star.

In the dairy section, Peter Ging, Ballyclider, Portlaoise, Co Laois, took both the champion and reserve champion Holstein of the show. The champion went to the homebred third lactation senior cow Ballyclider Una 130 VG88. This cow is sired by the noted AI bull Mr Minister and is freshly calved since July. The reserve champion also went to Peter Ging with a homebred first calved heifer.
