Gardaí in Navan are investigating after a third of a field of barley was damaged when a fire was started in the crop in suspicious circumstances.

The incident, which happened on Church Road, Johnstown, occurred on Sunday evening last.

In a Facebook post, Meath gardaí said: “Last Sunday evening, about a third of a field of barley was damaged when a fire started in the crop in suspicious circumstances on Church Rd, Johnstown.

The local fire brigade attended and put the fire out. Navan gardaí are investigating and if there is anybody that can help to identify any of the suspects involved, can you give them a call on 046-9021445.”
