Calves
Calf numbers remained steady, with 1,660 on offer this week. Calves continue to be that bit stronger compared with sales earlier in the year, with the majority close to or over three weeks of age. Shipping-type Friesian bull calves were up a little again this week.
They sold in the €80 to €170 price bracket, with older bull calves making up to €260. Hereford and Angus-cross bull calves sold for between €125 and €400.
Heifers of these breeds sold in a similar pattern, with calves making from €145 to €360. Continental heifers sold from €200 to €490 and continental bulls made from €200 to €580.
Cows
€250 to €300 over the €/kg was freely available for fleshed cows again, with even cows that needed more feeding making close to €200 with their weight. Beef breed cows were making over €400 with their weight. Overall, cows made from €60 to €750 over their weight.
