On Tuesday this week the board of Carbery decided to cut its May milk price by 0.5 c/litre.
It was then up to the individual boards of the four individual co-ops within Carbery to decide if they will pass back this cut to farmers. While Drinagh and Lisavaird both decided to hold, Barryroe, second from the top of the Irish Farmers Journal milk price league for April, implemented Carbery's 0.5c/l cut.
The price is now 23.25c/l excluding VAT based on 3.3% protein and 3.6% fat.
The announcement comes after Lakeland and Glanbia cut their May milk price earlier this week.
Lakeland cut by 0.5c/l and Glanbia cut by 1c/l to 21.8c/l excluding VAT at 3.6% fat and 3.3% protein.
This follows a further fall in Ornua’s purchase price index last week, despite positive signs on international dairy markets.
