A number of big names in the agri-industry have been included in this year's Sunday Independent Rich List, which lists the 300 wealthiest people in Ireland in 2016.

In 16th place, Ireland's biggest beef baron Larry Goodman is now worth an astounding €780m. Up €80m from 2015, Goodman will have even more control of the meat market if the proposed ABP-Slaney deal happens.

Bert Allen and his family of Wexford-based Slaney Foods rank 30th on the list with a combined €475m, up €20m from 2015. Brothers John and Peter Queally of Dawn Meats came in at 60th place with their €244m fortune.

Kepak

The Keating family, owners of Meath-based Kepak, are 85th of the Ireland's rich list with €168m to their name. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland beef barons, the Dobson brothers, are worth €154m, ranking 95th on the list.

Away from beef, Padraic and Martin McHale of McHale Engineering are worth €108m, up €7m from last year and ranking 123rd.

Back to beef, Dan Browne, who owns a 30% stake in Dawn Meats, ranked 172nd with €84m. Ranking 223rd, Wayne Acheson of Foyle Food Group had a ''difficult'' year, with a reported loss of €2m. He is now worth €63m.

Cavan beef baron Francis Mallon came in 245th place at €55m.

A new entry this year, Liam and Kathleen Quinn of Quinn's of Baltinglass, are worth €40m, taking the 278th position.
