2016-born Friesian and Angus bullocks dominated the numbers.

Lighter store bullocks made from €1.95/kg to €2.30/kg for Angus and Herefords, while most Friesians sold for between €1.60/kg and €1.75/kg.

Forward store prices varied, with age and number of movements coming against some lots. Forward Friesians were selling for between €1.68/kg and €1.80/kg, while prices of up to €2.03/kg were available for beef crosses.

    • Cows

    There were almost 70 cows sold this week, with no change in the price or demand for well-fleshed Friesian cows.

    They continue to pull in between €250 and €400 with their weight. Thinner cows were in shorter supply, but sold for between €1.21/kg and €1.33/kg. Cows sold for between €70 to €585 over the euro/kg. Sample prices:

  • One Friesian, 735kg - €1,190, €1.62/kg.
  • One Friesian, 690kg - €1,090, €1.58/kg.
  • One Friesian, 780kg - €1,310, €1.57/kg.
  • One Simmental, 660kg - €1,090, €1.65/kg.
  • One Brown Swiss, 645kg - €1,170, €1.81/kg.

    • Heifers

    There weren’t as many heifers on offer compared with bullocks, but they made from €265 over the euro/kilo up to €800 with their weight.

  • One Charolais, 585kg - €1,280, €2.19/kg.
  • One Simmental, 640kg - €1,440, €2.25/kg.
  • Two Angus, 365kg - €790, €2.16/kg.
  • Two Belgian Blue, 475kg - €1,030, €2.17/kg.

    • Calves

    There were 280 calves on offer. Friesian bull calves made between €110 and €255, with runners making up to €395. Hereford and Angus bull calves made from €240 to €390, with runners making up to €475.

    Heifers of these breeds sold from €225 to €380 for younger calves, with runner making up to €435. Continental bull calves sold for between €280 and €470, with runners making up to €535. Continental heifers made between €250 and €375, with older calves selling for up to €500.
