Having claimed reserve breed championship last week at Cork show, Grangewood Jeance was again on winning form in Charleville this Saturday. However she did one better this time, claiming the top spot in the female section of the Charolais ring and going even further to win the overall interbreed championship later in the day. Bred by Jerry O’Keeffe, Co Limerick, Jeance is sired by AI bull Inverlochy Ferdie.
Jerry also picked up the reserve female Charolais honours with his Panama sired heifer calf Grangewood Lala.
Limousin in reserve
Standing reserve in the interbreed was the Limousin male and overall champion Ardnacrusha Jaguar. Bred by Donal Moloney and exhibited by son Daniel, Jaguar is no stranger to success having secured male championship at Balmoral show last month. This eye-catching bull is out of Wilodge Vantastic.
In the junior interbreed championships, a Limousin once again claimed top spot. Daragh O’Meara caught Judge Arthur Finnan's eye with his September-born heifer by Ampertain Foreman.
Reserve honours here went to local breeder Peter O’Connell with his Raceview Gypsey Verona, an Anatrim Body Builder daughter.
In the dairy ring it was a clean sweep for the O’Connor family with their two Holstein cows, full report to follow during the week.
Parthenaise
In the Parthenaise ring, Michael Dullea of Drimoleague, Co Cork secured both the male and female champion. Scooping the male championship was Deelish Kilo Magician while in the female section it was Deelish Ka-Boom."
