Hundreds of farmers are expected to attend the annual Teagasc dairy conference this week, taking place in Clonmel Co Tipperary on Wednesday 26 November and in Cavan town on Thursday 27 November.

The theme of this year’s conference is pathways to progress and the event will hear from UK based dairy market analyst Chris Walkland who will give those in attendance an overview of the current dairy market.

Teagasc’s Laurence Shalloo and Joe Patton will be using real farm data to analyse key performance indicators and steer farmers towards making sure they focus on the right metrics.

As in other years, there will be farmers telling their own stories with Tony and Steven Kenny from Ardfinnan speaking at the Clonmel event while Oisin Gallen from Co Donegal will be speaking at the Cavan event.

Succession is a key theme, with real life examples of successful succession plans speaking on the day along with Teagasc experts in this area.

Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon is set to open the conference in Clonmel.

Tickets are available from the Teagasc website.
