Arrabawn has increased its January milk price by 1c/l to 30.1c/l excluding VAT.

Meanwhile, Drinagh Co-op’s base price for January milk will be 30.26c/l excluding VAT.

While the base price is unchanged the co-op has ended the 0.5c/l milk price support. The VAT rate has been increased to 5.4%. The VAT inclusive price is 31.89c/l.

Lisavaird Co-op has also said it will be keeping the January price the same as the December price.

Both Drinagh and Lisavaird are part of the Carbery Group. Earlier this week, Carbery decided not to increase January milk price.

Other co-ops

The Kerry Group announced a lift in January milk price by 2c/l to bring it to 29.4c/l excluding VAT at 3.3% protein and 3.6% fat.

Both Lakeland and Glanbia increased by 1c/l earlier in the week.

Lakeland also increased its January price by 0.5p/l in Northern Ireland, bringing it to 25p/l. Its NI price for December was 27.5p/l but this included a 3p/l winter bonus

Ornua levy

Meanwhile, the board of Ornua (formerly the Irish Dairy Board) has decided not to increase the Ornua milk levy.

The levy is taken at a rate of 0.14c/l for each litre of milk produced.

The milk levy was suspended on 1 May 2016. It was agreed at that time that the board would reconsider the suspension of the milk levy when the Ornua Purchase Price Index returned to 103 (30.5c/l incl VAT) for three consecutive months.
