According to Met Éireann, the week ahead is to remain unsettled, with a status yellow weather warning remaining in place across the country today.

Rain

Connacht was particularly badly hit, with more than five times the average rainfall recorded across the province. Even in the east, falls that were three to four times the norm were reported. The week ahead will be unsettled with above-normal rainfall levels expected in the west and almost twice the norm possible in the northwest. Some eastern areas could get away with below-average rainfall.

Temperatures

Temperatures continue to remain above normal by about a degree or so, with little frost so far this season. That trend is likely to continue in the coming days, with temperatures continuing to remain above normal. A colder spell is likely on Thursday and Friday, but it will turn mild again over the weekend.

Drying conditions

Drying will be generally poor.

Spraying

Due to the very disturbed weather, conditions for spraying will be poor.

Field conditions

A lot of land is flooded now, with surface water lying in many places and further flooding possible over the coming days.
