Severe rainfall on Saturday 5 December, as well as very wet weather earlier last week, has led to widespread flooding in many southwestern, western and northwestern counties.
According to Met Éireann, the week ahead is to remain unsettled, with a status yellow weather warning remaining in place across the country today.
Rain
Connacht was particularly badly hit, with more than five times the average rainfall recorded across the province. Even in the east, falls that were three to four times the norm were reported. The week ahead will be unsettled with above-normal rainfall levels expected in the west and almost twice the norm possible in the northwest. Some eastern areas could get away with below-average rainfall.
