Irish beef prices rose by 4.1% in April compared with the previous month, with only Estonia reporting higher growth (+5%).

By contrast, the average EU beef price fell by 0.8% that month. While the UK price rose by 3.4%, other major beef producers saw prices fall back slightly, with France and Italy reporting 0.3% and 0.5% decreases respectively. German beef prices fell by 2.4%.

On an annual basis, Irish beef prices were 1.9% higher than in April 2016, again ahead of the EU average growth of 0.8%.

Fertiliser

The dashboard also tracks input prices and shows that global bulk fertiliser prices continue to fall. They were back 6% in April compared with March, with urea showing the sharpest drop (-12.4% at $205/t).

International fertiliser prices now stand 7.7% lower than in April 2016.
