Joyce is the only candidate confirmed so far for Connacht chair, with Galway and Roscommon yet to make any nominations.
The fight in the west

In Galway, Tom Turley, the incumbent, was opposed by Bertie Roche, who is currently on the IFA environment committee. Galway will vote on which of these two to put forward at their executive meeting in the coming days.
Former Roscommon chair John O’Beirne is also seeking nomination from his executive next week but he is now expected to face stiff competition from within the county, including current Roscommon chairman John Hanley.
The rules require a candidate to get the backing of his or her own county as well as one other from the province.
Only two candidates can enter the race nominations again. Sligo and Leitrim have yet to decide on nominations and their weight will be crucial.
Meath
Meanwhile, the Meath IFA executive also met on Monday night. Despite some proposals being made, there were no nominations for North Leinster/Ulster regional chair or deputy president. Bert Stewart remains the only contender in this race.
