Outgoing Kildare county chair Pat Farrell was nominated by Kildare and west Wicklow. Farrell is a suckler and beef farmer from the Laois/Kildare border.

There are two other candidates in the race for the position of deputy president already: Nigel Renaghan from Co Monaghan and Richard Kennedy from Limerick. Each candidate needs a nomination from their own county and five others.
The deadline for regional and deputy nominations is fast approaching. Completed nomination and acceptance forms must be received no later than 5.30pm on Wednesday 3 February 2016.
