With kill numbers at almost 35,000 last week, prices paid to farmers vary depending on their selling power. Farmers with smaller offerings are getting €3.65/kg for steers and €3.75/kg for heifers. However, farmers with larger offerings are being paid €3.70/kg and €3.80/kg respectively, while specialist finishers with large numbers of in-spec cattle are getting €3.75/kg and €3.85/kg respectively. P+3 grading cows are selling from €2.85/kg to €3.05/kg, with Os from €2.95/kg to €3.15/kg. Good quality R grade cows are rising in cow specialist plants to €3.25/kg to €3.30/kg.
