As the dairy season reaches its peak, the Irish Farmers Journal understands that one of the dryers at Glanbia’s Belview powder plant has broken down.
It is understood that the problem relates to an air heater in one of the dryers and it occurred in recent days.
The processor said it does not envisage any disruptions to production, with milk supplies being sent to a number of other processing locations to deal with the problem.
A spokesperson for Glanbia said: “We expect a short term reduction in milk throughput at Belview for a period due to an issue on one of the dryers before a return to full production in the coming days.
“We expect minimal disruption to farm milk collection.”
The €235m Belview facility opened in 2015.
