A smaller entry at Skibbereen on Friday last resulted in another strong trade, with plenty of buyers active outside the ring.
Bullock numbers were low, with forward bullocks making up to €650 with their weight.
Younger steers sold from €200 to €490 over the weight.
Even Friesian stores were a firm trade, with many over 500kg selling from €900 to €1,000, depending on quality.
Feeders were active for young bulls, with continentals born from September 2016 onwards selling from €2.50/kg to a top price of €3.03/kg for three Limousins that weighed 231kg.
Weanlings under 350kg were selling better than heavier bulls. Angus and Hereford bulls made up to €410 with their weight.
The heifer trade was similar to last week, with a good supply of continental heifers selling to a top price of €935 over. Suckler-bred Charolais and Limousin heifers in good condition generally sold for between €2.40/kg and €2.50/kg, with some breaking this price.
The cow trade was strong and steady, with well-fleshed Friesians continuing to make €300 to €400 over the weight. Overall, cow prices ranged from €20 under the weight for plain Jersey-crosses to €610 with their weight for slaughter-fit types.
