Prominent cattle export company Quinn International Livestock will load approximately 2,000 high-quality breeding animals next week for supply to Turkey.
The consignment, assembled by Kevin and Damien Quinn, will include 1,950 breeding heifers and 55 pedigree beef bulls. The breeding heifers include 750 Limousins, 800 Charolais, 400 Angus and 200 Belgian Blues, Kevin Quinn said. The animals were bought from top Irish pedigree herds such as the Skidoo Herd and Gigginstown Herd.
The Turkish government has prioritised an increase in breeding herds and the national cattle herd over coming years. These animals are being imported by private Turkish companies, under state supervision, and will be sold onwards to Turkish farmers.
Quinn International Livestock hopes to secure further orders for breeding cattle to Turkey over coming months, Kevin Quinn said.
