A number of issues are creating concern among farmers in relation to the fodder scheme, including the 100km limit to qualify for the subsidy, ICMSA deputy president Lorcan McCabe has said.
He also criticised the availability of the scheme to farmers outside of the designated counties.
He said farmers have contacted ICMSA from Kerry and Cavan with fodder issues and, while the numbers of farmers involved may be small, it is a major issue for the individuals concerned.
“It is essential that such farmers do not lose out due to being outside the designated counties. The minister and his officials must look favourably at such cases and ensure that they do not lose out on the subsidy,” he said.
