Nine calf trucks loaded on Tuesday for the first sailing of the Carrier from Rosslare to Cherbourg.

IFA livestock chair Angus Woods said the Carrier’s three sailings per week, plus the existing Saturday sailing from Dublin, must be able to carry 10,000 calves per week in March.

“Minister Creed and the Department need to target calf exports of 150,000 head this year,” he said.
