There is an unusual worry this #harvest18 as the dry weather continues to raise the risk of farm fires. A tillage farmer in south Tipperary experienced his crop catch fire after the combine harvester in use hit a stone and created a spark.
The incident occured near the Cahir region of the county.
IFA tillage chair and Tipperary native, George Mason, commented on the event saying that everything was dealt with 'in time' and that there was whole crop devastation for as much as 'an acre or two'.
The local fire brigade was called at once and worked on managing the situation. There was minimum damage to the field and no harm was done to any person.
Glanbia took to Twitter to express how dangerous the situation was.
