The remaining status yellow soil moisture warnings for Leinster and Munster have been lifted by Met Éireann. The warnings remained in place until 1 August as some areas experienced moisture deficits in excess of 70mm following the prolonged dry spell.

The weekend and earlier this week saw a period of heavy rainfall and this provided much-needed moisture to soils. Many parts of the country recorded twice the average rainfall, with the highest totals across the southeast (47mm).

Unsettled

The unsettled weather regime looks set to continue for the next few days but drier conditions are signalled for the bank holiday weekend.

However, there has been a blight warning issued as current conditions are favourable to the development of potato blight.
