Crowds flocked to the 2018 Tullamore Show, with the FBD National Livestock Show being the main attraction. More than 2,000 livestock exhibitors attended the show to battle it out for one of the prestigious Tullamore Show gold medallions.
On top of this, four breeds held their national finals at the event along with two highly sponsored calf shows.
The winners of each championship were as follows:
Hereford
The two-and-a-half-year-old Shiloh Farm Dynamite claimed the title of overall Hereford champion for 2018.

Brought out by Sean McKiernan, this bull was originally purchased from Hugh and Sarah Murray. Sired by Grianan Freddy, Dynamite had placed as reserve male champion at the finals the previous two years.
Simmental
Garret and Lyndsey Behan were again on form in the Simmental ring, making it six years in a row. 
Overall Simmental champion Clonagh Darling Eyes from Garret and Lyndsey Behan.
Their Clonagh Darling Eye’s claimed the overall champion title for the second year in a row. The sire behind Darling Eye's is three-time national champion Banwy T-Rex.
Limousin
Brothers Karl and John Connell came out of top of the large Limousin entry with Carrickmore Maximus. This Ampertaine Foreman son is out of 2016 World Limousin Congress champion Bailey Ice Princess.

At only 10 months, Maximus is one of the youngest Limousin champions at the national show in Tullamore.
Charolais
Brought out by the Feeney brothers, Drumshane Mademoiselle continued her run from Balmoral Show to again claim the Charolais championship. This tops a long summer of championship wins for the two-year-old heifer.

Angus
The senior Angus championship went to Pat and Finbarr Cahill with their senior stock bull Drumhil Lord Harry.

This bull was purchased by the duo at Stirling bull sales February 2017 for 8,500gns. Sired by Nightingale Proud Jake, he is out of Blelack Lady Heather J169.
In the junior section, John McEnroe was out in front with his homebred heifer Liss Kim. This one is out of Te Mania Berkley and goes back to the famous New Zealand cow Kim of Fordafourie.
Salers
The Hunt family from Co Sligo made it a double in the Salers ring, claiming both the senior and junior titles. Niall Hunt topped the senior section with Philana, a December 2015-born heifer. Sired by Vanlooy and out of a French dam, Philana was also champion at Bonniconlon.

Bernard Hunt was then out on top of the junior section, claiming top spot with Sligo Serlo. Sired by Ulsan and out of a French-bred dam, this one was also placed first at Bonniconlon.
Aubrac
Angela Kehoe enjoyed a successful day in the Aubrac ring, claiming the overall champion title with Boley Rock Lilac. This two-year-old cow shown alongside her calf at foot is sired by Heirtier and out of Histoire.

Irish Moiled
Irish Moiled again featured in the championship lineup, and showing the way was Ciara White with Woodbine Brioit. This two-year-old homebred heifer is sired by Tully Jack and was champion at the recent Mount Briscoe Show also.
Shorthorn
Tommy Staunton fought off stiff competition in the Shorthorn ring to claim the overall championship with Caramba Hottie.

This first-calver has attended five shows and has been unbeaten in all five. As well as claiming an all-Ireland title as a calf and a yearling, she was also champion at the show in 2015 and female champion at Balmoral in 2015.
Blonde D’Aquitaine
Stonelea Kira was top in the blonde ring. Brought out by John Galvin, Kilrush, Co Clare, this heifer was runner-up in the junior section at last year’s show.

Belgian Blue
Donegal native Pat O’Brien secured the top spot in the Belgian Blue ring. Mill Loreta, born September 2017, is sired by Woodview Solo.
Parthenaise
Patrick Doyle came up trumps in the Parthenaise ring with his stylish young heifer Kyle Herd Kate. This heifer is by Gene Ireland bull Kyle Herd Ivan and out of a Panache-bred cow.

Commercial senior
Brian Dyer continued his run of form from the summer shows to claim the overall senior commercial championship. This Hazard-sired heifer is out of a Doonally New-bred dam.

The McPadden brothers' stylish Limousin calf secured the Limousin heifer calf champion title, overall Limousin champion title as well as the Kepak beef animal of the future title. Sired by Elite Forever Brill, the dam is a Lisnagree Elite-bred cow purchased at Carrick in 2015.
Friesian
Cork breeder Ricky Barrett not only claimed top spot in the Frisian section but also the Jersey.

John Curtin and D&L Storan jointly own the junior Friesian champion Liskinelt Lulu 6. This September 2017-born heifer has real promise.
Dairy Shorthorn
James Lambe from Castleblaney did the double in the dairy Shorthorn ring, claiming both champion and reserve titles. Following her interbreed title win at Balmoral, Ballytrain Bloom 30th claimed top spot. Reserve honours went to the junior cow Ballytrain Marina 6th.
