Monday

Met Éireann has issued a weather warning that will be in place for eastern counties until 9am Monday.

The weather should clear as the morning progresses and become milder, with temperatures between 2°C and 5°C.

Tuesday

Heavy bursts of rain in the west of the country, with gusty southwesterly winds.

It will be coldest in parts of Munster and Connacht. Minimum temperatures between 2°C and 7°C.

Wednesday

Cloudy with occasional showers, however there will be some bright spells. More rain along coastal counties.

Minimum temperatures 2°C and 5°C.

Thursday

From Thursday onwards the weather will remain unsettled with more rain showers.

Farming forecast

Rain

Rainfall has been up to 20% below normal for most of the country, and up to 50% less in western counties.

However, with the weather warning in place the dry back-end is likely to come to an end.

The next 10 days will see a much higher percentage of rainfall.

Temperatures

Temperatures have been below average for the past week, with frequent frosts.

Temperatures have been 3°C and 4°C below normal. However, temperatures are expected to get milder and continue so going forward.

Sunshine

Sunshine figures have been over twice the normal values, but Met Éireann has said that the weather will get wetter from now on.

Drying conditions

Drying conditions will be poor generally.

Spraying

Spraying conditions are expected to be poor.

Field conditions

Met Éireann has said that “the land is currently in great shape and very workable”.

Rainfall will increase from now on but in some places grass continues to grow.
