As the BT Young Scientist competition draws to a close, a number of projects focusing on agriculture featured among the award winners. Farm safety, climate change and new technologies were strong themes for the school students.
A total of four agri-related projects claimed prizes in the special awards category.
There were also prizes claimed in the category awards at all age groups, especially in the areas of biological and ecological sciences, and technology.

While not picking up a prize, a number of projects based on agricultural topics were highly commended by the judges.
One project, Smart Electric Fence from Athlone Community College, picked up an award for the quality of their display having also been highly commended.
