Antrim coast close to heart of Curtis

Curtis Magee has an abiding fondness for the north coast of Antrim and it is no surprise to see that his new DVD was filmed along this enchanting part of the island of Ireland.

For over three decades Curtis has been an integral part of the entertainment scene way up north.

His mix of country, humour, banter and Irish charm have secured for him a special place on the circuit and he is much in demand for some of the annual overseas music holidays in Spain and Portugal.

The double release of a CD and DVD in recent days reflects his enduring love for the music scene and his continued outreach to so many people.

This is his 14th DVD on the Music City Records label for Terry Corrigan in Dungannon.

His latest CD album, I Wish I Had Someone To Love Me, is his 34th album making him one of our most prolific recording artists.

Curtis also sings a medley of John Hogan and Don Williams hits along with a special tribute medley of songs to one of his boyhood heroes, the late great Big Tom McBride.

The CD also features a duet with fellow townsman Hugo Duncan entitled The Two Wee Men From Strabane, a song composed by their good friend Gerard Dornan.

“I am busy on the road both at home and across the water and I just love doing what I do, entertaining and making people happy with my music, songs and recordings.

“Sometimes I find it hard to believe the amount of album and videos I have recorded since I started on my musical journey. I’m still enjoying it as much as ever,” says Curtis.

Joe and Sabrina on country trail

Midlands Radio presenter Joe Cooney has shown he is more than just comfortable entertaining his evening audiences across Westmeath, Offaly and Laois and further afield.

He recently took to the recording studios with Sabrina Fallon from Portumna, a cousin of Mike Denver and recorded a duet number, Stumbling In, along with a video. Joe is thrilled with the response to the package and has featured as guest along with Sabrina on a number of concert shows around the general midlands region. Other visits to the recording studios are on the cards.
