The Count: The Music of John McCormack – 30 March: Spend an hour reminiscing about John McCormack, the great Irish tenor who charmed and thrilled audiences all over the world in the early 20th century. His repertoire ranged from operatic arias to songs which made him a global sensation, such as I Hear You Calling Me, and It’s a Long Way to Tipperary. The music and narration of his life will be performed by internationally renowned Matthew Gilsenan of The Celtic Tenors, accompanied on the night by Jillian Saunders on piano. Playing for one night only in the Ramor Theatre, Virginia. See www.ramortheatre.com.
Crowman – 30 March: Jon Kenny is touring with a new play, Crowman, and is stopping off in Westport Town Hall for one night only this Saturday 30 March. The play received standing ovations every night during a run in the Cork Midsummer Festival at the Granary. In it, Jon plays numerous characters but the primary one is Dan, a 50-year-old loner and outsider. The play is at times poignant and tragic, but also has a warmth and humour as Jon slips seamlessly in and out of the many uproariously funny characters. See www.westporttheatre.com
Dumbo – 29 March: Inspired by Walt Disney’s 1941 classic of the same name, Dumbo is an action-packed story following the beloved classic storyline where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Dumbo himself is a young elephant with very odd, oversized ears. After discovering he can fly, Dumbo’s personality transforms as he helps save a doomed circus. Featuring a star-studded cast, including Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito, this film promises to be great.
David McSavage - National Treasure – 30 March: David McSavage brings his new self-proclaimed National Treasure Tour to the Spirit Store venue, Dundalk, on 30 March. A regular guest on TV and radio shows in Ireland for many years, David has also appeared at many major comedy festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and internationally in Australia, Japan and Scandinavia. Much like his hit TV series The Savage Eye, David brings humorous characters to life on stage.
