A considerable discount is available to farmers who buy silage plastic from Irish Farm Film Producer Group (IFFPG) members and then recycle it at nationwide bring centres or arrange on-farm collections. When buying plastic from IFFPG members, the farmer is given a six-digit label code on the invoice or receipt which allows them to receive the discount.

With a code, the charge at bring centres for 0.5t of plastic (approximately 250 wraps, three covers) is €20, while without a code this rises to €85.
There is also a substantial price difference for plastic collected from the farmyard, with 0.5t of plastic costing €45 with a code and €100 without one.
Farmers are also being given the opportunity to recycle net wrap, small and large fertiliser bags, meal bags and drums at the bring centres.
These waste types must be segregated in bulk fertiliser bags, with the liners removed.
Netting and twine recycling comes in at a cost of €5/bag, while most other types of waste cost €10/bag.
There are centres open for collection over the coming week in locations across 13 counties including Cavan, Galway, Louth and Tipperary.
