Under the EU-Mercosur trade deal, the South American bloc of countries will have tariff-free access to the EU market for 180,000t of poultry carcase weight equivalent (CWE).

This 180,000t will be in the form of 50% bone-in poultry meat and 50% boneless.

The deal will also allow 25,000t of pigmeat into the EU. This will carry a tariff of €83/t. Both poultry and pigmeat volumes will be phased in six equal annual stages.
