Ten Korean meat buyers are to visit Ireland next week following the recent trade mission to Korea by the Department of Agriculture and Bord Bia.

The 10 buyers are responsible for buying a combined 85,000t of beef per year and 37,000t of pork per year for the Korean market.

Visits

The group will visit Kepak, Clonee, Dawn Meats and ABP Cahir, as well as travelling to a beef farm on Wednesday.

Hosted by Bord Bia officials, the group will visit Kepak Clonee on Monday, followed by a trip to Rosderra pork plant in Edenderry on Tuesday.

They will travel to Slaney Meats on Wednesday and incorporate a farm visit, before moving on to Dawn Meats, Grannagh, Co Waterford, and Dawn Pork & Bacon on Thursday.

Host farmer

Carlow farmer Fintan Keating from Ballinabranagh, Milford, is to host the group on his farm.

His 60ac Bord Bia quality-assured farm produces around 50 stores heifers to beef at 22 to 29 months of age.

He is the 10th generation of his family to farm at Ballinabranagh and his father Eoin is still involved.

The Korean buyers will move on to ABP Cahir, Co Tipperary, on Thursday.
