The Beef Plan Movement is staging protests outside Kildare Chilling and Liffey Meats, both based in Co Kildare, as part of a nationwide series of protests outside beef factories.
The protests began on Sunday evening at ABP Bandon in Co Cork and have since spread nationwide.
Dawn Meats in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, is not killing cattle this Tuesday, but the plant is still processing and is concentrating on the sheep kill. The factory is planning a normal cattle kill for the remainder of the week, the Irish Farmers Journal understands.
Meanwhile, Kepak Athleague in Roscommon is continuing to kill cattle and sheep. Beef Plan members protesting at the gates are trying to encourage farmers not to present animals for slaughter but there are still significant numbers being traded.
A number of farmers are under pressure to move stock, with spring 2017-born animals approaching the 30-month age limit and heifers at risk of going over-fat.
