Heavy, thundery downpours in the afternoon and evening are being forecast by Met Éireann and the Met Office.
There are status yellow rainfall and thunderstorm warnings in place, with the risk of localised flooding in counties in the northern half of the country.
The warnings cover the nine Ulster counties and are in place from 12pm until 9pm on Tuesday night.
Counties Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo have also been included in the warning.
The warnings come after between 30mm and 40mm of rain fell in parts of the west on Sunday.
