Since 2015, €93m which represents 1.6% of Ireland’s CAP money has moved from farmers with higher-value entitlements to those with lower-value entitlements. As a result of convergence, a process introduced in the last CAP to move all entitlements closer to the national average of €266 including greening, 60,646 farmers have seen their direct payment increased.
On the other hand, 54,322 farmers have seen their direct payment reduced.
A smaller portion of payments to 9,560 farmers were unaffected by convergence.
Ninety-two per cent of farmers were affected by the changes. Those who had their payments reduced saw their entitlements reduce by 2.03% on average. This money increased the entitlement value for those receiving by 13.54% on average.
