Meat Industry Ireland (MII) has strongly refuted the assertion made by the ICSA that supermarkets will run out of beef due to protests.
“While ongoing illegal blockades of beef processing facilities is [sic] having a serious impact for staff, customers and genuine farmer suppliers with cattle to process, we are not yet at the stage of white shelves in the domestic market,” MII said.

It continued that up to 17 factories were affected by protests, some fully blockaded, and some export markets had not been served, which seriously damaged Ireland’s reputation.
Concluding, MII said it was ready to engage “constructively” in any process that the Minister for Agriculture put forward to resolve the dispute.
