The injunctions against farmer protesters at Slaney Foods have been permanently struck out.

This fulfils an agreement made last Thursday between the protesting farmers and Slaney Foods at their gates in Clohamon, Co Wexford.

No longer preventing access

Farmers for their part are no longer preventing access to the plant, although a peaceful protest presence is being maintained.

Meat left the plant by agreement on Friday, with normal activity resuming on Monday morning.

On Monday morning, an application in the High Court by Slaney Foods counsel saw the injunctions against Beef Plan Movement Company Limited by Guarantee, Patrick Crean, Donal O'Brien, Robert Bailey, Robert Bailey, Henry Deacon, and Michael Murphy dissolved.

Four of the farmers were from Wexford, with two - O'Brien and Murphy - from Carlow.

Proceedings

On Friday week last, the six men were present in the High Court for proceedings relating to the temporary injunction placed against them two days earlier.

On that occasion, five of the farmers gave an undertaking to comply with the terms of the injunction, which was made permanent on the day.

That undertaking was made through their legal counsel Mr James Staines, provided for the defendants by the IFA.

Mr Staines was present in court today on behalf of defendants two to seven. The Beef Plan Movement was unrepresented.

One of the injuncted parties, Robert Bailey (the fifth defendant), had his case heard separately, where it was accepted that he had not been a party to the second round of protests which began two weeks ago.

Beef Plan leaders were present, but Beef Plan was not formally represented in court on the day.
