Sligo farmer Michael Seery reports 74 sheep missing from the Loughill, Carnaleck and Kilcummin mountains in Clonacool. The sheep were stolen sometime between early January and mid-February. Valued at €80 to €100 each, they are worth almost €7,000 to the farmer.
March 2018
Four Lanark-type lambs are stolen from Adam Smith’s shed in Cookstown, Co Tyrone. One ewe is killed during the theft when she gets trapped and breaks her neck. The lambs are taken from a shed just a few hundred yards from Smith’s home farm.
May 2018
Two 500kg heifers, a Limousin and a Charolais, are stolen between 4am and 6am from a farm in Templetuohy, Co Tipperary. Seven Angus heifers are also taken from a neighbouring farm.
June 2018
Five calves and five cows are reported stolen from a field on the Macullagh Road between Newtownhamilton and Cullyhanna in Co Armagh, close to the border with Co Monaghan. The cows are Belgian Blue, Hereford and Charolais, all with Charolais calves at foot.
July 2018
Forty sheep are reported stolen from a field on the Bannfield Road, Rathfriland, Co Down. Some 21 ewes, 18 lambs and one ram are taken. A yearling Limousin-cross bullock worth €1,000 is reported missing from Ardee, Co Louth, by farmer Stuart McKeever. The bullock is later found six miles away.
October 2018
A south Meath farmer reports the theft of 210 cattle tags from his jeep. A number of weeks later he subsequently reports that 210 animals were stolen too, which he noticed when doing a TB test. He tells Gardaí that he believes they were taken over a number of weeks.
January 2019
Sixteen cattle are reported stolen from a farm near Castleblayney in Co Monaghan. Also in January, two heifers are stolen from a remote field at Lurganmore Road in the Ballygawley area of Co Tyrone.
April 2019
Twenty-five cattle are stolen from a farm near Castleblayney, Co Monaghan. The farmer alleges they are taken by two men who brought a crowbar to destroy the camera system on the farm. The animals include in-calf suckler cows, 10 heifers and 10 bullocks. The farmer believes the thieves may have been watching the farm prior to the robbery.
June 2019
Gardaí investigate the suspected theft of up to 100 sheep from a farm in the Mountnugent area of Co Meath.
July 2019
A farmer in the Colane Road area of Aghagallon, Co Antrim, wakes up to discover 29 of his cattle had been stolen from his farm.
