Farmers involved in the protest near the Dáil in Dublin are refusing to leave until they get a meeting with Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed.
Up to 300 farmers protested at Merrion Square on Tuesday afternoon, along with 100 tractors, before driving and walking towards Kildare Street, where Dáil Éireann is located.
It is understood that a senior figure in Minister Creed’s team offered to meet the farmers. However, they said they only wanted to see the minister.
While Kildare Street is cordoned off, the tractorcade was offered the opportunity to pass by the Dáil but farmers were unwilling to do this until they had talked to the minister.
As of 7pm on Tuesday evening, the situation was at an impasse and the farmers had no intention of leaving.
The tractors extend from St Stephen’s Green past the Shelbourne Hotel, and down towards Baggot Street.
