Liam Hanrahan, a dairy farmer from Co Clare, is the FBD Young Farmer of the Year for 2019.

Hanrahan was crowned at the awards ceremony on Tuesday night in Castleknock.

He will receive a travel bursary and the opportunity to experience farm practices abroad, while also developing their skills. All county winners will also receive an award.

Here are the other farmers that were on the shortlist:

  • Shane Fitzgerald, a dairy farmer from Waterford.
  • Brendan Gorman, a dairy farmer from Kildare.
  • Edward Egan, a tillage and grassland farmer from Roscommon.
  • Alan Doyle, a beef and sheep farmer from Kilkenny.
  • Daniel Hickey, a poultry farmer from Carbery.
  • The winner of Biodiversity Farmer of the Year was Kilkenny farmer Alan Doyle.
