CELEBRATE the local talent, dedication and hard work at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) High Achiever Awards – Leinster Concert and Awards Ceremony in the Visual, Carlow, on 12 January at 3pm. The RIAM established these awards in 2000 to recognise the huge educational value and priceless experience of live public performance in the community. Now it has grown and identifies the rich young talent in Ireland today through a series of regional concerts and award ceremonies spread throughout Ireland each year. Admission is free.
APPRECIATE the music of Irish rock band Aslan on 10 January when they play the Clonmel Park Hotel, Tipperary. Aslan took their name from CS Lewis’s series of books and came from Dublin’s northside in the mid-1980s. 2018 saw Aslan release their first single in five years. They have released six studio albums and sold out numerous venues across the UK and Ireland. Aslan are currently touring the UK and Ireland. Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizell and Patrick Feeney have all enjoyed successful solo careers but when they come together on stage they give a performance full of chemistry and magic. The concept of the Three Amigos was the brainchild of promoter and broadcaster Joe Finnegan. The workshop will cover how to overcome self doubt and have greater confidence in your abilities, how to become clearer on what you want to create and which areas of life to focus on, have strategies to overcome obstacles and discover how to live more courageously.
