The national committee, the five regional committees and the various sub-committees of the Beef Plan Movement are to be stood down while an investigation is carried out into “serious disciplinary issues”.
In a statement, joint chairpersons Eamon Corley and Hugh Doyle said the alleged disciplinary issues related to members of the national committee and other members of the group.
“This is a regrettable measure but one we feel is necessary,” the statement said.
The move to stand down the internal structure comes as the Beef Plan Movement prepares for its inaugural national election.
Interim committee
Corley and Doyle said a national interim committee would be established in the coming days made up of “a number of trusted, hardworking, prominent members from different counties”.
The interim committee will govern the organisation until the elections conclude.
“Going forward, only directions and correspondence from both national chairpersons and from members of the national interim committee will be legitimate and official Beef Plan directions,” the statement, sent to the group’s WhatsApp pages, said.
Once the interim committee is formed, a list of those on it will be made available to Beef Plan members.
