Farming in Nenagh, Co Tipperary
Pat Cleary, his wife Renee and their daughters Clodagh, Patrice and Triona of Annagh, Coolbawn, Nenagh, Co Tipperary farm 400 acres, 220 owned and the rest is leased. Pat milks 220 cows on a 150 acre home platform. Replacement heifers and other dry stock are all grazed on the out farm 75% of cows are down to AI Friesian with the remainder of the herd accounted for by Aberdeen Angus Stock Bulls. The beef type calves are reared on the farm until 2 years old whilst Friesian bull calves are sold. Calving started on January 22nd with 26 cows calved to date. \ Odhran Ducie

Shane O' Neill from Tooreenasillane, Skibbereen, Co Cork feeds his cattle after coming home from his day job as the assistant manager in the hardware shop of the local Drinagh co-op branch in Skibbereen. Shane runs 25 Belgian Blue / Salers cross sucklers in a calf-to-weanling system and the start of spring calving is not far away. \ Donal O' Leary
