The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has stated that it is “closely monitoring progress” at a Dawn Foods site in Kildare after repeatedly appearing on the EPA national priority list last year.
The site is home to Arrow Group Limited, which was directly named on the EPA name and shame list, with odour and noise highlighted as the key issues at the facility. Arrow is owned by brothers Peter, John and Michael Queally who also own Dawn Meats.
Some six sites operated by other companies remain on the list.

“The EPA remains concerned that Arrow Group has been a national priority site for all four quarters of 2019. Arrow Group has committed to completing improvement works in early 2020 to address the issues identified and the EPA is closely monitoring progress to ensure the site returns to compliance,” the EPA said.
Some 1,472 inspections were carried out by the EPA last year at licensed industrial and waste facilities.
Tipperary Co-op also appeared on the national priority list, with “emissions to water” highlighted as a problem.
