Counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry have been hit with a new wind warning from Met Éireann.

A status yellow warning is in place for these counties from 8pm on Monday until 8pm on Tuesday.

The warning comes into play after the orange wind warning for storm Ciara ends.

Gusts

Strong westerly winds with mean speeds of 50km/h to 65km/h and gusts to 110km/h, highest in coastal areas, are forecast.

A combination of spring tides and high seas will result in a risk of coastal flooding, especially around high tide, Met Éireann has warned.

Snow/ice warning

A nationwide status yellow snow/ice warning for Ireland remains in place until 11.59pm on Tuesday.

Widespread wintry showers are forecast for the remainder of Monday and Tuesday, with some snowfall accumulations, especially in the west and north.

Met Éireann has warned that some disruption to travel is possible, particularly over higher routes.
