Monday

There will be a wet start to the week, with a rain warning in place until 8am on Monday affecting a large part of the country.

It is expected to brighten as the day progresses, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 6°C to 10°C.

Tuesday

Met Éireann is warning that Tuesday will be very cold, with a mix of sunshine and scattered rain showers. there is also a risk a sleet, hail, snow and possibly thunder in the west of the country.

Along with wintry showers, it is expected to be windy. Temperatures are forecast to drop to -1°C.

Wednesday

Temperatures are still expected to be below normal, with scattered showers turning to sleet or snow on high ground.

It will be cold overnight, with severe frost.

Thursday and Friday

Current forecasts indicate that it will remain very cold and unsettled for the end of the week heading into the weekend. More wintry showers are expected.
