A black and white pup was sold for £2,350 at the latest Skipton Auction Mart.

The unbroken five-month-old pup from Donal Mullaney, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, is called Jim. He was bred from the renowned trials dog Jack, a multiple open trials winner who was placed in the Irish National team on seven occasions.

The previous record price at Skipton for an unbroken pup, also thought to be a world record at the time, was £2,100, achieved by an eight-month-old pup in 2017.

Another world-record price was set at Skipton, with £12,000 paid for a dog under one year old named Jet.

Virtual sale

Both dogs were sold online at what was Skipton’s first ever virtual dog sale, with real-time viewing and a live pre-sale conference facility. Live working dog sales cannot be held under COVID-19 restrictions due to the large crowds they attract.
