Bord Bia has created a survey titled Farmer Sustainability and Engagement Tracking, distributed with the aim to gather data on farmers’ preferences, practices and opinions on a range of issues.
One question in the survey aims to gauge farmers’ level of trust in Bord Bia, establishing how the trade body performs relative to other farming organisations and agencies.
These include the Department of Agriculture, Beef Plan, ICBF, ICSA, Bord Bia, Teagasc, IFA, ICMSA and co-operatives.
Better services
A spokesperson for Bord Bia said: “As farming comes under increased pressure to implement sustainability measures, we wish to understand which practices are widely adopted and which practices farmers may need support in implementing.
“The reported data will help to establish areas for improvement and deliver better services for farmers.”
Bord Bia has said the survey has been sent to all farmers who have consented during their audit to be contacted via email or message in relation to farming industry news, information or events.
Responses have also been gathered from non-members during an online promotion in July.
The data is currently being gathered by Bord Bia’s research partner Opinions, and will be reported on an aggregate basis ensuring anonymity for all respondents.
