Gardaí are appealing for information in connection with the theft of six cattle from lands in Co Mayo on 5 October.
The cattle were taken from a field in Knocknageeha, between Cross and Kilmaine, and were recovered on Friday night, over 20 miles away in a field in Balla in the county.
“The six Charolais-cross bullocks were stolen from a field at Knocknageeha [on] 5 October 2020. On Friday 9 October, the six were located more than 30km away on lands close to Balla Mart,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Vehicles
Gardaí in Claremorris are appealing to anyone who may have observed transport vehicles in the vicinity of Shrule between 5pm on 5 October and 4pm on 6 October or at Balla on the evening of Friday 9 October to make contact with them.
“The cattle, which were stolen, were worth approximately €9,000, and gardaí are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for this theft.
“Anyone who noticed transportation of livestock in these areas on the relevant dates, or noticed the loading of livestock in Shrule or the unloading of cattle at Balla, are asked to come forward.
“In particular, gardaí wish to speak to anyone who may have video or dash cam footage,” the spokesperson said.

Gardaí wish to thank the public for their assistance in this matter and are glad to report that the six bullocks have now been returned to their owner.
