Some €1m has been allocated for farm safety schemes in 2021.
Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Martin Heydon said he is intent on “ensuring that any measures we take aren’t just dictats from Dublin but that farmers are invested in them”.
These schemes will be rolled out through the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) and will be locally led.

Minister Heydon will issue a call for proposals for ideas for these schemes out to individuals and farm organisations. If successful, the individual or organisation will roll out the scheme in conjunction with the Department.
“I want to make sure farm safety is in the next CAP and these pilots will be an opportunity to do that,” Minister Heydon said.
