A new UK-based research project is aiming to use artificial intelligence (AI) to help identify sick animals.
The project will combine novel AI technology along with behavioural analytics to provide rapid insights to animal health for farmers.
Ultimately, the project aims to provide a new cost-effective solution for farmers and vets to identify illness in livestock.
Collaboration
The research and commercial feasibility program, co-funded by Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, will be led by the Quant Foundry (QF) in collaboration with the University of Bristol vet school and Agri-EPI Centre.
Details on the project specifics are limited. However, this does offer a glimpse into what will likely be the increasingly important role of AI in the agricultural industry.
Commenting on the launch of the research and commercial feasibility project, managing director at QF Dr Chris Cormack said: “In conjunction with our research partners, the study of behavioural analytics in animals will open up a new era in artificial intelligence-driven solutions for farmers.”
